Barcelona Legend Andres Iniesta Admits Real Madrid Deserve to Be in the Champions League Final

Barcelona captain ​Andrés Iniesta has admitted he has lost interest in the Champions League, after his side failed to make the final in Cardiff, but has accepted Juventus and Real Madrid are deserving finalists.

Barcelona were knocked out of the competition in the quarter-final stage by finalists Juventus after the Spanish side failed to register a goal in either leg against the Serie A leaders.

With Real Madrid dispatching rivals Atletico Madrid 4-2 across the two semi-final legs and Juve dominating against Ligue 1 leaders Monaco to the tune of 4-1 on aggregate, the two sides are deserved of their spot under the Millennium Stadium lights.

The 33-year-old is not a stranger on the European stage as in each of his appearances in the Champions League final he has come away with a winners medal, but speaking at an event in Barcelona.

The Spanish international and four-time winner of the competition said, via Marca.: "Madrid and Juve are just Champions finalists, but you lose interest when you do not play the final."

With over 120 appearances to his name in the Champions League Iniesta has been apart of incredible victories where has has set up countless goals, whilst managing to score a few for himself along the way. 

However, the 33-year-old claims his stoppage-time goal at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in 2009 is his greatest moment in the competition, it ultimately led to Barcelona winning the competition in Rome and it secured the Spanish internationals second European trophy. 

He added: "Stamford Bridge. My best memory of the Champions League is the semi-final against Chelsea in 2009.

Iniesta also made time to announce who he believes is the world's best football as he heaped praise on his Barcelona teammate as he said: "Leo Messi is the best player in history."
